Carpet Tiles for Utility Room

We don't have any immediate use for the utility room downstairs, but it does get traffic passing through since we relocated the bathroom entrance in there. So, the floor needed to be made presentable while we didn't wanna spend a lot of money getting it done.

Found some used but decent carpet tiles going for cheap at a junkshop in Puchong, hunted down some carpet cleaning foam at Ace, and make it work with good old fashioned elbow grease.

Le Tour de Downstairs

Sorry for the long silence, I've been busy honeymooning, settling in to married life, getting my ass whipped at work, and most importantly, we didn't have internet in the crib when we first moved in.

Anyway, the house is done, and we're now living in it. We managed to move in the day after our wedding, spot on the deadline which is great.

I suppose you readers all want to see the end result of all the hard work now, so here goes...

This is the view through the front door, as you first enter. The faux-wooden 'boardwalk' is in. The material is Chalet Oak from Inovar floor. It feels great to walk on, almost like real wood.

This is the view standing at the front foyer and looking towards the back of the house. The pillar with the iron pipe has been boxed up with a shelving unit.

The living area, before we unpacked the sofa. Flooring is Canyon Oak, from Inovar. It's their entry level product, but it looks and feels decent nontheless. You may notice the lack of skirting on the wall. I requested for a flushed installation with end-profiles. Skirting is so yesterday.

L-shaped sofa set. From Enoma Collection, LDP Furniture Mall. Sounds like a cross between Renoma and Enema. No Enemas on my sofa, thank you. That said, it's pretty comfy and we got a good deal on it.
Photobucket

View from the kitchen looking out towards the front. Pardon the curtain rail, at that point it was just makeshift and I've since installed it properly and trimmed it to size. Finished pix on that later. Pardon the pile of trash too.

And this is the view that greets us in the morning when we come down the stairs.

Day_59: Front Door

The door arrived at the crib first thing in the morning. The workers got cracking right away. Power tools are amazing. With the power router, the guy managed to precisely cut the slots in the door for the hinges within a matter of seconds.

Some hours later, at lunchtime the door is in its rightful place.

With clearance underneath for the Inovar Flooring to go. And some grubby fingerprints.

Day_52: The Show Must Go On

Despite the inevitable shennanigans creeping up here and there, progress continues to be made on the crib.

The marble floor gets shined up real nice

Day_46: Re-graining Parquet [UPDATE]

As promised, here are the pics of the day, although by now the day's kinda over.

Parquet flooring in the master bedroom before:
The condition is crummy, after being trodden on and abused by construction workers.

You may notice the parquet doesn't exactly match, but that's apparently because modern parquet doesn't come in the size that vintage parquet used to come in. Modern one is slightly bigger.

Day_46: Concrete Bar Counter / Re-graining Parquet

It's finally begun, the construction of the concrete bar counter which forms the 'chassis' of our dry kitchen.

The parquet on the staircase and the whole first floor is also being re-grained, which means the end is in sight!

Keep tuning in, there will be pics to follow later in the day.

Day_40: Dotting the i's crossing the t's

Front foyer area levelled with concrete, and sliding door frame and rails are installed.

After all the levelling of the interior, it was decided that the house is too high up, so we added a step platform at the front entrance.

Outdoor kitchen has been completed, and the backwards sink rectified. Looks beaut now.

And finally, all the hard work above means one thing:
It's time to do more shopping!

Photobucket
Got this for RM580. Solid door, veneer. 3ft x 8ft. This is 1 foot taller than standard as I wanted a taller main door. Feels grander when you enter the house.

Photobucket
Comes with this lockset for an additional RM150

The purchases above qualify us for 2 spins of CIMB's Wheel of Fortune...
