Here it is, all done. I designed it to have no visible fasteners from the outside. I often think that in Malaysia, people spend big money getting contractors to build mega-bucks timber fences for them only to have the aesthetic spoilt by too many visible rivets/bolts. The devil's in the details.
The edges in the near side of the pic are irregular. It was intentional, and I wasn't sure how it would turn out. Either you like it or hate it.
Overall, I really like the natural wood finish as compared to most other people who paint theirs with this "chocolate" colour which covers the woodgrain and in my opinion looks really unattractive. I had at first bought a tin of that chocolate stuff, but decided to ditch it for the Jotun Woodshield clear. Win for Jotun.
Approximate cost of build:
Timber : RM160
Fasteners : RM90 (Stainless steel hex bolts are expensive)
Jotun Woodshield : RM54 (Used 2 tins. First tin spoilt due to improper storage)
Choco Laquer: : RM25
Hammer : RM25
Sanding Discs : RM6 (Used 2 or 3, just factoring in the cost)
Grand Total : RM335

The irregular ends is just great. I love unconventional design.
