Power Tools for Fools

Yes, there is a new A-team movie coming out. And if you remember what the A-Team was all about, it was a heavy machinery orgy. This is the perfect excuse for a post on my arsenal of power tools, and no they're not for fools.

Bosch GSR 3.6v cordless screwdriver and Talon 12v cordless drill/driver. The pocket sized Bosch packs quite a bit of muscle for its small size, and is easy to use. Combine it with an array of Phillips, Flat and Hex heads and you'll blow through all your Ikea, and other DIY installation jobs. But for really big projects that involve plenty of screwing around, you want the 12v cordless drill to really pack a punch. And yeah, you gotta love cordless mobility and maneuverability. I pity the fool who go messin' around with wires all day.

Black & Decker RTX1 Rotary Tool. Multipurpose tool for cutting, grinding, polishing, sanding, engraving, routing, cleaning, you name it this one does it all in a 35,000 rpm flash. Some people swear by them, saying it's like the mother of all tools, but I tried cutting a high-tensile steel bolt that was too long with this, and I destroyed 3 cutting discs before I decided it was too dangerous. It's great for detail jobs but when it comes to big jobs like cutting anything fatter than a nail, you really want the firepower of big tools.

Like this one. The angle grinder with a steel cutting wheel went thru the same bolt faster than you can say "Hey, where'd my finger go?" So yeah, I pity the fool who don't respect your power tools.

Bosch PEX 115 A Power Sander. It made a cameo here. This one's ol' skool tech, it belonged to my dad but I've made it mine. Muahahah. It gets the job done quick, but for a really fine finish, you're still better off sanding by handing.

Stanley Spirit Level. Get one of these in your toolbox. Don't make your wife stand around tellin' you left up a little, no, down a little, now the right side up, more, more, opp too much now the left.... well you get the drift. I pity that fool.

Soldering Iron, 2-Headed Test Pen, Lead Solder, Mr. Mark Side Cutter. To do this you need this and this and this.

Mario wouldn't leave home without these. Keep them in your belt for jobs like this one.

Finally, I pity the fool who go round trippin' over his tools. Keep them neatly stowed away. I use a Mr. Mark 56L Toolbox. It's not the best, but its alright.

Welldone, looks like you are getting into the 'dangerous' world of diy. You may end up getting more tools than we need. :D

Anyway, good luck in your work. I started my tool collections when I wanted to build my first speaker...
